Pessach cleaning

This is for Lea:

So pessach is just arond the corner. I don't know what everyone's personal scheduel is, but I know that mine is very busy. My last week of school is next week and i'm only showing up for two days of that week. As well, I have quizes schedualed for everyday of that week, i'm missing a few, and all my assignments are either due this week or next week. As a result, I have been getting less sleep and having very LITTLE time to clean.

Two weeks ago I cleaned my room as an atempt to get a 'head start.' I actually enjoyed the process becuase I was able to think about things while I was cleaning. Instead of going from one assignment to the next, or studying for one subject and then continuing to the next, I actually had the time, a whole hour, to stop and think about my life and what has been occuring over the previous months.

It was then that i realized how much I enjoyed cleaning. Not becuase I was able to get on my hands and knees and sweep, wash, and organize my room. But because I was able to think, for that short hour, about things. Unfortunately I have not been able to clean since then. Besides for the table I clear and wash at work, I have not cleaned anything else in my house, thank you family for doing it.

I now find myself WANTING to be able to clean and have the time to do so. Strangely enough, this have never happened to be before.

With this feeling came an insight. Maybe the reason we are told to clean before pessach is inorder for us to take the time to STOP our daily busy ruitens and think. A lot of physical energy goes into cleaning but your brain isn't under any strain. During this time we are given the oppertunity to think about our life and how we might want to change some things that happening. Maybe we want to be come more productive or less agressive, or maybe we want to appreciate people more? There are a lot of things we all need to work on, but we can only work on one thing at a time. Are we making progress in our growth as human being?

I could really go on about this forever, talking to myself as i type. I hope you get the message and start to appreciate this time that HaShem has given us to STOP AND THINK>

I wish you all a chag kasher v'samayach. Be well!

Good luck cleaning ;-)

Having fun spending money

So i have a phone that takes pictures, and i just realized how i can upload them, then i found out that it costs 50 cents a picture, how crazzy. But the deed is done so i thought i'd show you what i look like now, after 8 months of not seeing me. Here i was erev shabbat having fun!
Honestly though, i like this one the best, i even made it my facebook!
Trust in HaShem, only. Yup yup, cause even when you have a ton of hw to do and cleaning He'll help you get it all done before pessach!
Be well everyone, hope you enjoyed!

optical illusion 2

Optical Illusions

I decided to internalize something that i've been learning in psyc. Below i've explains some of the reasons you preciev them the way you do. The main point of my expination is to remind us that we NEVER know the full story of any situation, even ones that envolve us. Just like we've learned recignition cues to understand what certain objects are we've created 'made up' situations where if we SEE someone doing something we automatically know that it's becuase of A.) B.) and C.) But we really have no IDEA why they're doing what they're doing.
So, since pessach is coming up in about three weeks i thought i'd remind us that we never know the full details of a situation and that we should pay more attention to OURSELVES and less to others. It's a zeman teffila and teshuvah! Remove the chametz that's clogging your pores.

Another thing we learn is called 'figure gournd.' When looking at something when we either expect something or need to used bottom up identification, we decide that one thing is 'forward' while the other is 'background.' This way we're able to see more then one thing, though only one at a time. If you look at the first picture you can either decide the the black is background, in which you see a face, or that the white is background, where you see a man smoking. But you can't see them both at the same time.

Back 2 Reality: Happy Birthday to Me!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Since there's no WAY i'm gonna be able to call everyone and give them a bracha i decided to put one on my blog. It is my hebrew B Day today and i'm offically ending my 20th year of life ( ie: I't my 20th birthday.)
I want to wish everyone a few things.
  1. Clarity to know what HaShem wants from you in every situation
  2. Complete understanding that He's listening to your teffillout and answering you.
  3. Siata D'shmia to know what you need and see that you're being given
  4. Patience towards all those you have trouble being patient with
  5. Understanding that everyone is 'just like you' in the sence that you never really know what they're going through and why they act in certain ways. This should help you to judge them favorably.
  6. Lastely, knowledge that i really wanted to call you but my B day is an erev shabbat and i have a LOT do clean and bake before it arrives. I miss you and hope you have a GREAT shabbat!

Please have patience

Hello everyone.
I am entering the last month of school for this semester. Therefore, I will be very busy for the next month since I have a lot of projects, reports, and essays due. Please forgive me but I won't be able to post so regularly.
I'll try to post once a week and see how that goes. Even more so, pessach is coming and I need to shop and clean.
Thank you for your patience. Please stay and comment though,I love comments. Thanks for you support and I empathise with everyone who is in school and knows what I'm talking about.
Be well.

Remember

Remember last year when we would all go to nishmat on Thursday night. It's a ziman teffilah that we would all look forward to . And then on the shelosh regalim we trekked all the way to the kotel for bircat cohanim! The energy in the air could make anyone cry. To see so many yidim congregating during the chagim to say teffila to HK'BH!
Well today is taanit Ester. A ziman for teffila and teshuva. B"H we're fasting and trying to wake ourselves up and remind ourselves Who is the focus in our lives. We're very fortunate to be where we are and accomplishing what we are. HK'BH has given us a lot and yet we NEED to do teshuva. How was yearn and cry for mashiach, geula, and yeshua. We can be zoche all of these things if was readjust our focus or straiten out once again.
It's hard to know if we're on the right path or making the right decisions. It's important that we're in contact with daas Torah when making important decisions in our lives. Let's try to reconnect to some of those people, mentors, that we thought we'd never let go of.
It's never too late to give a call to a forgotten almuna. It's never too late to call up an old teacher or mentor and just ask for chizuck.
We're doing great and I'm very proud of what what we've accomplished and achieved since we've left Israel. We can continue to bring kedusha into chutz la'aretz by being the best Jew we can in the situation we're given.
Kol hakavod to everyone! Tizku la mitzvout! I hope that EVERYONE has meaningful fast and that, by the end of adar, we are zochei to see mashiach with the coming for nissan.

Kol tov.

Princess Sarah Rut

Since we're all supposed to act like the princesses we are, I decided to make a doll representing what I would look like if I could walk around physically diplaying the princess I am inside. More simply, what I'd look like if I were a princess, though I know I am cuase i'm a bas Yisroel. Anyway, so this is what i came up with. I hope you like. Have a great day everyone!

When all looks dark and dreary.
Hello to all. I was just going through the pictures that i have save on my memory stick, or USB port, whatever name you want to align with it, and i came across these pictures.
As of now i don't know what drew me to these in the first place, or even why i saved them.
But I'd like to assign some commentary to the pictures you see below:
A. There is a sail boat stuck in the sand. This boat is stuck to the ground and half buried by the sand around it. Even if it tried to leave it could not because there is no tide near it and have of it's base is already engulfed.
Secondly, the ship is not an ordinary one. There is a castle standing erect on it's port.
The symbolism behind these observations are subject to the observer. I"ll leave that job up to you. I hope you enjoyed. I hope you like these pictures . Have a great day and please let me know what you're interpretations of these pictures are and if you see anymore details.

Rosh Chodesh Adar

I would like to formally invite the month of Adar into our lives!
I might need to remind you of the side affects of participating in this month.
A.) Intense joy regardless of personal life situations.
B.) Recognition of the tov HaShem has done and continues to do for us.
C.) Anxiety when making the decision on what you're going to be for purim or do for mishloach manoot.
(D.) A large difference in your bank funds after you by me a 20Th birthday present.)
Non of these are guaranteed, it's up to you to make the difference, nor are any of them recommended except for my birthday present :-) for address info just ask ;-)
I really hope that everyone is as excited as i am. The beginning of Adar means a lot of different things. 1. the start of chagim back from our 'winter vacation.' I don't know about everyone else but winter is a little lonely for me with out the chagim, especially here in chutz la'aretz!
So enjoy!

Shabbat Queen

This is me shababt queen!
So i think that we're very lucky cause this weekend if packed with kadusha! First we have shabbat! B"H, our lifesaver and really chance every week to reconnect and focus with our creater. Then we have rosh chodesh ADAR on sunday and to make the week a little sweeter we have rosh chodesh on monday as well.

I was thinking about these great things coming up and i couldn't help smile and forget about everything else that went 'wrong' this week. I hope they help to cheer up your day and week as well.

Speaking about Adar, what am i gonna do for mishloach manot? oy, i really got to put that on my todo list, not just the projects and essays i have due for schooll......

A new look

I thought that this picture adequately supported SEP's post about each of us having our own view of things. If you analyze the picture to the left you'll notice that there are three or more different perspectives being played upon.

I think it's important to realize that in every situation there are always more then one view point to stand at and perceive a situation. At any time the positive judgment post is the best to acquire, as it helps both us and the victim. Thank you.

In other words, no tuchy ;-)

Did you know that shabbat is approaching? Finally after a long week of studying and working hard on our middout the time had come to start rejoicing and welcoming the shabbat Queen! I'm so thrilled. I was listening to Lev Tahor 4, my favorite shabbat theme cd, on my way to school and as usual i became increasingly excited to perpare for shabbat!
First i'd like to thank the peroducers and singers in that cd becuase it ALWAYS manages to brighten my mood and help me get into the mindset of shabbat after a long weekSecond, i really wanted to share this serine feeling i have with you in an effert to shre it with you. I hoenstly believe that we're very lucky to have the gift of shabbat! It's one day a week where we can readdjust our perspective and focus on the world we live in. A time that h'b gives us to rest from our dayly distractions and realign our behavior to parallel with His will and mitzvout.
This is not a new thing, we all know this information.
However, i'm afraid that we've forgotten, a little, just how speacial shabat is. It's difficult to value anything that we've had since our birth and continue to have til we're 120.
So i just thought i'd remind myself and you how lucky we are to have a day to STOP!

Can you find Vancouver ?

In Relation to what has been written below

Earthquake Warning!

Hello all,

The city i live in now, Vancouver B.C Canada, is on the edge of a fault line. Regardless of the knowledge we have developed the coast line extensively and even situated houses under steep slops, smart eh! Well it's been known for a while that there is continuous tension building up on under us as the Juan De Fuca plate is subducting under the north American plate. These two plates have been stuck for a while and, therefore, cause tension to build until one day.... snap.

For the past few weeks we've been living under an earthquake warning. Beeing that i'm in a geography class in college I've been learning about this for a while. I've seen pictures.

Now when ever one hears of a dissature happening, i assume, they're usually not thinking, "this might happen to me." Being young and 'immortal' i was thinking that as well, even though i live in Vancouver. It occurred to me this morning that i should take this opportunity to really pay extra attention to me actions during the day. Who knows if a mitzvah i do now can save me later, if a when this this goes off? So i'm gonna try to daven a lil' harder and do mitzvout more carefully. I wanted to share this thought with you. Maybe it will help to give you the motivation you need to overcome one mitzva or avodah to HaShem? i hope it will, and i hope it does for me.
Be well!

SHIDDUCHIM!

I want to wish a HEARTY mazal tov to all the girls i know who have gotten engaged in the last 6 months.
More importantly,
i want to give chizuk to those girls my age, only 20(ish,) who are feeling 'left behind'
or pressure to join the crowd of kalla's.
I just thought I'd share some of my techniques to push back the unwanted pressure imagined in my head.
A.) Evaluate my situation and make sure that there is a reason for the things I'm doing. Ei: Why I'm in school = to get a degree to support my husband in kollel for the first few years , b'h. or
B.) Am i really that old? NO for crying out loud I'm spring chicken!
C.) Am i doing my histadlus? have i been in touch with Rebanim who i respect? Have they confirmed that what i'm doing RIGHT now is the best i can do for the situation that i've been put in?
D.) DO i really want the stress of shidduchim RIGHT now on top of my CRAZZY schedual?
E.) IF that does help i call a friend who's NOT engaged and talk to her.
I Hope that this has helped. It's just that i got an email from a friend about this issue and have had to talk to myself about it a few times, B"H i know A LOT of kallas, and thought that maybe there are others out there with similar, imaginary, stress factors on their shoulders!
Have a GREAT shabbat- Tu B'shvat and Shabbat shira!

Cool Eh!?

I'd like to live there!
A tree house

Cold but cosy!

The Last Day

What if today was the last day. The end of everything. I know that we've been asked before,
"If this was you're last day in Olam hazei' what would you do."
Well have you ever taken the question seriously? When I'm doing something i shouldn't do i stop myself saying,
"you know Sarah Rut, though no one can see you HaShem can? What if you you're being judged NOW?"
I think that we've been posed with that question so many times that it's lost its affect on our perception of the world and our influence in it. Regardless, I'd like to ask the question again...
We are all supposed to yearn for Mashiach. For the end of this galus and the rebuilding of mashicah? What are you waiting for? The reuniting of our people? Meeting Sara imeinu? Or one of the Avout? Pick something and stick with it. Get yourself psyched everyday with excitement! TODAY WILL BE THE DAY I MEET RACHEL IMEINU!!
I think that we each have a LOT of potential. It would be a shame to waist time perfecting it by getting distracted with other lesser things. You're awesome and I value for YOU not for the way's you're like other people but just the opposite. I value you for the distinct differences in your character that make you unique. Take a hold of those differences and polish them. Do what you already know how to and you'll change the world and those around you MORE then you'll ever realize!

It's been a MONTH!!

Hello, everyone. I feel like I'm talking to myself, well maybe I am?
I know that SOME ppl like it when i post stuff but i haven't had any inspirational thoughts in a while, bad sign eh!
So here goes, for you Lea and S.E.P.
I work in a Cafe after school. I have recently realized, from the help of my boss, that costumers are ALWAYS right no matter how annoying, snotty, or what ever word you want to use, they can be. I am there to GIVE them what ever food of beverage they want.
This discovery has awoken me to the big problem of CHUTZPAH. I never thought of myself as one to be chutzbadic, since everyone has their slip up's once in a while.
I was reading Rabbi Teworsky ( I'm sorry i really don't know how to spell his name,) book "The enemy within". He mentions there that chutzpah has become increasingly popular in our society, along with other things. When i read this a thought to myself, it's not just a slip up once in while with your mouth, were you just get so fed up with customers and they down play on your service. The problem is your thought process. Are you thinking, "this person is so frustrating to deal with."and just not saying anything out loud? Cause if that's the case then there's still a problem.
We are CONSTANTLY reminded to judge our 'fellow's 'favorably. This refers to any joe shmoe off the street. (my apologies to anyone named Joe Shmoe.) It struck me how wrong I've been to even THINK about another in that way, even if i DON"T express it.
I just thought I'd share the reminder. Many times we might think, ït''s ok that i think this way as long as i don't act on it..."but that to, my friend, is wrong.
Have a GREAT day and be well!

Embarking Once Again

Since most of us are off on 'vacation' and haven't started school again yet, i thought i'd restate some chizuk.
We live in a world filled to the brim with goyim. To our dismay their morals are in the negative and barely exist for a growing number of them. With in this society we dwell, trying vigurously to stick to our roots and grow from there. This struggle will occur and continue as we advance in age and life experience.
Though we're at constant war to stand out ground and stay strait in our avodat HaShem, we sometimes forget that we even are at war. The motions may be robotic and instinctive by now. It may have been a while since we reassesed our personal situation and postion in this war.
Over the last few weeks i have had the ablity to sit back and envelope myself, once again, in the Jewish goals and prospective. Realigning myself, i hope, with my mission and goal, hopefully in site by now. During this period i was shocked to find that i had let my guard done slightly. I had asumed that i was 'used' to this atmosphere and no longer had to be on alert. I was wrong.
I feel compelled to remind my friends that it is nessecary that we reexamine our situation and strategies of battle. It could be that we have 'evolved' too much and let done our guard slightly.
I was reminded by Rabbi Twersky ( i know i'm spelling his name wrong) that the yetzer hara is ALWAYS attacking and on battle for internally and externally.
I give you chizuk and support to continue and work and win your battles so that you may, one day, win the war. May HaShem give each of us the strength we need to overcome our battles and realize that they are battles.
Thank you for reading. All the best.
Any questions might be answered if you look at the previous postings or i'll answer questions addressed in the comments of this note.

2 Shabbats!

This Chanuka we get two shabbat chanuka's. I thought that it was an interesting point, as well as a nice thing to realize and appreciate.

Tuesday, December 12, 2006

Or La'goyim

Or La'goyim

So it's the week before chanukah... hence i'm randomness as i try to think of an inspirtational thought, just for you Lea! umm.......
So we're supposed to be 'or la'goyim' eh! We'll then why are we lighting our menorah's privately by our house. (I know that they used to light them together in the town square, publicly, but let's forget that for now k ?)
I think that the reason H'Shem has put us in the situation where we're lighting INSIDE our houses, in chutz la'artez, it to teach us a speacial message and remind us of something more nesseccary here then in eretz yisroel.
In cutz la'aretz we are challenged by the large poplulation of goyim and their media freely publisizes their 'ideals' and 'morals.' One may be confused and think that they're supposed to reflec and mirror this behaviour. I feel that we are getting a message not to think or do this! We are SUPPOSED to DRESS and THINK differently. We live by different morals and have a different center. This is strangthened by the fact that we bring the menora INSIDE our houses. Only through strengthening our home and selves frist can we shine forth into the world and be or la'goyim and the rest of klal yisroel

I was gonna send you guys a satilite pic of my house but it's taking longer to find then i thought.
I want to mention that my teacher, Rabbi Leff from cincinnati, said that HaShem sends up snow during the winter becuase it's a time when things are cold, people might feel depressed, and our only holiday ( comemoration) is chanuka ( not to put down chanukah.) So we get snow, usually, as a reminder that Hashem is there and wants us to be happy and hopeful. You can expound on that if you want. all the same, be well!

Here's on picture, Leay. I hope you like. These are the mountains She was talking about, well some of them. I'll be posting more soon!

Yira in the right place

I was just thinking about the fact that we don't have enough yirat shamayim. Many times a robber may hide from police but when no one's looking he'll do what ever he pleases. This a very unhealthy manner of Behaviour. Mostly because the person will continue to do things that are forbidden for a reason. This reason is usually that it's not good for the person. Such actions can have negative results that are only perceived in the long run. There are spiritual repricautions for actions whether we like or understand it. We need to keep check that we're not doing embarrassing things in private. There actions are relative to the person in question. Next time I do something I need to ask myself if I'd be doing so with my Rav or Ima standing enfront of me. This way we can fulfill a very important mitzvah to constantly be aware of haShem and His presence in our life. As we develop this 'talent' we can start substituting the mentor figure with the rightful one, haShem. I hope this message serves as chizuck to all those reading, keep up the great work!
