Or La'goyim
So it's the week before chanukah... hence i'm randomness as i try to think of an inspirtational thought, just for you Lea! umm.......
So we're supposed to be 'or la'goyim' eh! We'll then why are we lighting our menorah's privately by our house. (I know that they used to light them together in the town square, publicly, but let's forget that for now k ?)
I think that the reason H'Shem has put us in the situation where we're lighting INSIDE our houses, in chutz la'artez, it to teach us a speacial message and remind us of something more nesseccary here then in eretz yisroel.
In cutz la'aretz we are challenged by the large poplulation of goyim and their media freely publisizes their 'ideals' and 'morals.' One may be confused and think that they're supposed to reflec and mirror this behaviour. I feel that we are getting a message not to think or do this! We are SUPPOSED to DRESS and THINK differently. We live by different morals and have a different center. This is strangthened by the fact that we bring the menora INSIDE our houses. Only through strengthening our home and selves frist can we shine forth into the world and be or la'goyim and the rest of klal yisroel

God adds a special day at the end of Sukkot, a day of great intimacy with our Creator, as He asks His Jewish children to remain with him for extra personal time together.

Imagine you throw a huge party and invite everyone you know. But this is no "regular" party: It's one solid week of food, music and fun. Eventually things wind down and people begin to leave. As the host, you quietly go over to a few of your best friends and whisper: "Stick around after everyone else leaves -- that's when I'm breaking out the good stuff."
Each year God has a weeklong celebration called "Sukkot." In ancient times in Jerusalem, the service in the Holy Temple during the week of Sukkot featured a total of 70 bull offerings. This, the Talmud explains, corresponds to each of the 70 nations of the world. The Temple was not just for Jews. When King Solomon built the Temple, he specifically asked God to heed the prayer of non-Jews who comes to the Temple (1-Kings 8:41-43). And the prophet Isaiah refers to the Temple as a "House for all nations" (Isaiah 56:7).
The Temple was the universal center of spirituality, a concentrated point where God-consciousness filtered down into the world. In fact, the Talmud says that if the Romans would have realized how much benefit they themselves were getting from the Temple, they never would have destroyed it!
And then, at the end of Sukkot, God added a special day. It's called Shmini Atzeret, literally the "Eighth Day of Assembly". On that day, only one bull was offered -- representing the Jewish people. It is a day of great intimacy with our Creator, as He asks His Jewish children to remain with him for extra personal time together. (Talmud - Sukkot 55b)
Shmini Atzeret is a full public holiday, as described in Leviticus 23:36. Even though it immediately follows the seven-day Sukkot festival and is often considered part of Sukkot, it is, in fact, a separate holiday. This means that the She'hechiyanu blessing is recited, and the obligation to sit in the Sukkah does not apply.
TAPESTRY OF SEVENS
Nachmanides (12th century Spain) explains a beautiful kabbalistic concept: Seven is the number of the natural world. There are seven days in the week, seven notes on the musical scale and seven directions (left, right, up, down, forward, back and center). "Seven" -- represented by the seven days of Sukkot -- is the world of nature. "Eight" -- represented by Shmini Atzeret -- is that which is beyond nature.
The Jewish people, says the Talmud, are beyond nature. We have survived every imaginable persecution, exile, hardship and expulsion. And still, we have achieved and thrived far beyond our numbers. As Mark Twain wrote: "All things remain mortal but the Jew; all other forces pass, but he remains. What is the secret of his immortality?"
The "secret," as we know, is the special gift that God gave to the Jewish people: The Torah. As Rabbi Emanuel Feldman writes:
"Torah is the mysterious bridge which connects the Jew and God, across which they interact and communicate, and by means of which God fulfills His covenant with His people to sustain them and protect them."
Therefore it is no coincidence that on Shmini Atzeret we also celebrate the completion of the yearly cycle of Torah readings and the beginning of a new cycle. This event is lovingly referred to as "Simchat Torah," literally "Rejoicing of the Torah." (Outside of Israel, Simchat Torah is celebrated the day after Shmini Atzeret.)
Why are we accustomed to both finish and re-start the reading of the Torah on the same day? The Sages explain: "To show that the Torah is beloved to us like a new object and not like an old command which a person no longer treasures. Since it is brand new to us, we all run to greet it." We sing and dance for hours around the bima (the platform where the Torah is read), carry the Torah Scroll, and express our joy at having the opportunity to come so close to God.
On Shmini Atzeret, as we complete this holiday season, we offer a special prayer to God for rain. Rain represents the blessings of growth and abundance. Through all the hard work of Elul, Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur and Sukkot, we have come a long way. Our task now is to carry that energy throughout the year.

FOOD!!!!
I don't think so.
As for me, i think that it's a good opertunity to actualize all the 'promises' we made over the past month. Espeacially over the past two days, we've been telling G-d that we're sorry, i hope, and that we are going to try our BEST to NOT repeat our ofenses. An then we're thrown into a fast day. We are given the opertunity to stop and think about what we've commited ourselves to.
Today are we going to try to daven with a wee bit more kavana? Are we going to be a lil' nicer to our parent(s) and sibling(s)? You don't have to tell me the answers to these questions, just think them to yourselves.
For me this fast as been an extra reminder that i'm different then the people around me. Right now i'm sitting in college, not wanting to be here, and hungrey. But the fast day is giving me a constant awarness that i have higher priorities that are above my school work. They are what i 'owe' to G-d and i must deliver them. I can't be late. I have one week to perfect myself or at least atempt to make that my goal for the up coming year.
This monday is going to repreasent my monday's for the reast of the year.... How am i gonna use it? How are YOU gonna use it as well?
Chag Samayach.

(Inspiration from a friend, one word, sapling, thank you:)
Day in, day out, we struggle with out 'scheduels' and atempt to remain calm and sane as the day wares on.... We see the challenges ahead of us and try our best to confront the challenge with strength and vigure. We fail to realize that all along, some one is watching. And no i'm not referring to the 'one above ( and inside for that matter) who is always there, though this is true, i'm hinting to all passer-byers, i have no idea how to spell that word.
All the positive things we do in our day are seen by random ppl whom HaShem want's to witness our deeds. Through these 'encounters' we inspire and spread kadosha, as ppl reflect on their own lives when watching how we run ours.
And thus sprout saplings along our journey through life and this long road where we walk. If WE look back many times we don't see the trail of enfluence we've left behind, there are MANY 'baby trees' growing along the way.
I hope this makes sense to you because it's really late and i'm not trying to hard to translate this from my thoughts to words....
regardless, my point is that a;) above and b') we need to stop focusing on what other ppl are doing wrong. it's hard enough to fix ourselves we can't possibly have enough energy to do the world as well. So as long as we're trying ourbest to be the best ppl we can and serve G-d in the best way ppl will see that and feel our confedence and strength in what we believ in and know and do. and that way we will change the world, one encounter at a time. the chafetz chaim tried to change the world, but it was too hard then he tried to change his communtiy and failed as well, next his family but that too..... finally her 'resorted' to change himself and now he's changed the world!!!
Please translate my wrods properly and hear what i'm trying to say- do'nt get discouraged that everyone's watching and all is lost, my point is to stop judging other unfavoribly and just concentrate on being the best person you can be....
that's it for now- thanks for listening, this is for you Elese- i have no clue how to spell your name. and thanks Devo

Again, the following was a comment a very good friend of mine wrote- i thought is was 'worthy' enough to be posted for all to see
"Also, just a short vort I heard from R' Feigenbaum, for Rosh Hashanna. Everyone now, in the time before Rosh Hashanna takes on new things. On the contrary, instead of taking on something new which we may or may not hold to, take something you've been doing since you were two years old and be mechazek THEM. We can keep on taking on new things till we're blue in the face, but there's so much to improve that we've been doing all our lives. Take a simple thing like saying modeh ani and AS SOON as you open your eyes say it. There is always room for improvement on things that we just do by rote. THis vort comes around every year, but it's always good to have that reminder. Ksimah v'chasima tova!

Now is our time to show our creature and 'master' that we're faithful servants. Though we've strayed, even a lil', over the past year, we are looking to return and improve ourself. We know it takes time and mayn even be painful. For characteristics are the hardest things to change about ourselves. They may seem part of out 'nature' but they must be refined and re-chanelled! Life is here for us to untilize our potention and be the best you , that you can be. There is only one you in this world- only you can complete your mission, you must. Or the world will lake for eternity!

Keep your focus onthe road ahead. Many times the path may seem to stray, so make sure that you're walking on one ladden with footsteps. There are MANY before you who have walked this road, some only for a short period of time, but many have crossed it at least once. So don't think that you're alone. Or crazzy, as long as your goals are clear and you know where your going. You'll be fine, make sure yo have someone who know's your goals to check in with. Many times we think we're going up but we're in vertigo- we're going down. Or we think that we've completely fallen, but those steps backward help us to leap forward.
What ever happens don't give up!

We need to stop comparing ourselved to others as a means to stop our own growth. When looking around us we can become discouraged very easily. Everyone else seems to be lush, green, and sprouting new life. Yet us??? we seem, to ourselves, to remain barren and unprotected. As brittle as a twig.

Feeback that Needs Publishing!
Everybody, I want to make a public plea to you all. This blog is "back to reality" well I want to bring reality home to all of you, as it was brought to me tonight. I saw a couple of my friends who haven't yet been zoche to realize what a bracha it is to have a kesher with HaKadish Baruch Hu. THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT WE HAVE AND WHAT THEY'RE MISSING. You do know, so use that, and realize that if these tefilos are going to come from anyone they must be from us. More than nine tenths of our nation are saying "I hope we see peace soon," but don't understand that if they only said it to our Father in heaven instead of just to one another it would make all the difference in the world. Please, you all know of the koach hatefila that we all have. It doesn't have to be a long tefila, it can even be just one sentence in English when you're feeling that pang of tsa'ar. Use that koach hatefila and please Hashem it will bring Moshiach b'karov!
This was written by one of my friends as a comments. I truely appreciate her words and hope that we all hear them and act on them NOW! Then surely we will see redemtion

The Method to My Madness
There is a point to the pictures you see posted below. I've chosen them for a PURPOSE. ( Yes I DID think it through.)
In a majority of the pictures posted, if not all, there is a 'deeper' side. I different way of viewing and perceiving what is being depicted. What the painter is really trying to protray.
So too we find with the Master Painter of this world we dwell in. The one who has painted us all uniquely different in looks and abilities. He has set up the world in such a way that you will only see Him if you search for Him. Such as in the system of 'nature.' HE is willing and cammanding the sun to rise and moon fall. The grass to grow and the wind to blow. THe very system of gravity and sound waves shows that it could not be by chance that such things came to be! It must be put into this world by a being who knew what they were doing. An infinite being ( but that's for another time.)
If you refuse to admit His existence in this world then you suffer the consequences of your own actions. Falling pray to the 'powers' which you give power to. For when all is said and done they do not really control ANYTHING and, therefore, you might be left unanswered, unsaved.
But I'm sure you wouldn't do that to your self right !
And so we must try to keep our focus on what G-d wants from us. In what way does HE want us to act and run our lives? We may see the situation in a different light if we put into prospective what HE wants and what our ultimate purpose is in this world.
So next time a struggle arises in your life ask yourself- what is G-d trying to tell me? How should I react to this? Get angry or stay calm and focuses? Be bias or try to open my mind and heart to others? What should my goals be? Should i protect my ego or admit to my mistakes and grow and become a better person through them. After learning not to do them again?

Looks Can Be Deceiving
are they moving away from each other? hard to tell eh!
and what about this man- is he riding a horse with a windmill behind he or just sitting with a strait mustach?
That's a pretty big seal if you ask me! or is it a POLAR BEAR CUB? now this one is confusing eh!
Don't be fooled by the size- think of the strength!

My view on the world
So this whole thing in israel right... well the way i see it is a clear sign to the 'end' or mashiach!
So what should I do in reaction to the world events? i think i should 'smarten up' before it's too late and pull my act together.
